Welcome to the 2022 ARPA RESCUE Entrepreneur Startup Business Grant Application

Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska’s 2022 RESCUE Entrepreneur Startup Grant application is to be completed by the applicant.

This is a non-competitive grant. Priority is given to applications where the business is in the Tourism, and Service-related industries which were the most impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. All applications will be processed in the order received. You will receive an email confirmation when your application has been received. Incomplete applications do not hold a place in line. Failure to submit the information requested will result in a delay in processing and may result in a denial of the application or lack of award due to expending all funds.

ANC Corporations and non-profits are not eligible. The business must be a for-profit business owned by a Tlingit & Haida citizen who is also a U.S. citizen. If you are not enrolled at the time the application is submitted, your application will automatically be denied. The business must be located in the United States. If you have already received a 2022 RESCUE Small Business Grant your application will automatically be denied. Tlingit & Haida Citizens are only eligible to apply for one 2022 ARPA RESCUE Entrepreneur Startup Grant.

Prerequisite to apply: Tlingit & Haida and Spruce Root, Inc. have teamed up to help tribal citizens prepare to become entrepreneurs by offering two online courses: “Business Basics” and SHI Business Basics for Artists. Prior to applying for the startup grant, applicant must take one of the business courses and purchase a state business license. Spruce Root will send us a list of those that have completed the business course.

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  1. Photocopy of current State Identification card and T&H Tribal Enrollment card
  2. If the applicant started his/her business in 2022, he/she may submit photocopies of each startup business receipt incurred as of the date of the application up to $2,500.
  3. A signed and dated “Schedule of Expenses” matching the receipts submitted or shopping cart
  4. A voided check or deposit ticket with the completed direct deposit form
  5. Photocopy of your new 2022 Business License
  6. Photocopy of legal structure, if not a sole proprietor (Articles of Incorporation, or LLC document) showing ownership.
  7. The Business Tax Identification Number requested (TIN, EIN, SSN) is the number that the business reports its income to the Internal Revenue Service.

Cash receipts for expenses incurred are not accepted.

Please NOTE an intake key will be assigned to your application. You should write this number down as you will need it to access your application.

Also, if you do not know your tribal enrollment number, please email enrollment@ccthita-nsn.gov for assistance. Your enrollment number is required during the application process.

Editing your application will not be possible after you press "Submit" (located on bottom of the last page where you "Upload" files). You will be contacted by a Rescue SBG employee to assist if anything further is needed.

Notice: This ARPA Rescue Entrepreneur startup Relief Grant is taxable income. Businesses should contact their accountants or tax preparers on how this will affect their tax returns.
